National Association of Black Journalist Awards
Annually, NABJ awards deserving students interested in pursuing a career in journalism awards of more than $30,000 in NABJ scholarships. Each scholarship is worth up to $5,000. Scholarships are open to any foreign or American born students. For more information about scholarships, contact the national office: (301) 445-7100.
National Association of Hispanic Journalists Scholarships
Several $1000 scholarships are awarded each academic year to students
interested in pursuing careers in the print or broadcast journalism
or television or radio journalism.

Scripps Howard Foundation Scholarships
The foundation awards scholarships to
prepare for careers in print and broadcast journalism and graphic
arts. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $3,000 per year and must
reapplied for annually. For further

Council for Advancement of Science Writers
The council offers an annual fellowship in the amount of $2,000 which
is offered to journalism students with a special aptitude for science
writing. Priority will be given to journalists with at least two years of

Hispanic Public Relations Association Scholarships
These scholarships in the amount of $500-$1,000 are offered to
Hispanic communications students attending college. For further information contact:

National Press Photographers Association Scholarship
This association offers (nine) one-year scholarships of $1,000, a
graduate bonus of $500 to help students prepare for photojournalism careers.
While not limited to minorities, they are particularly sought for this

International Radio and Television Society
A 2 day minority career workshop for college juniors, seniors, and
recent grads with outstanding academic records and extracurricular
experience. Must be a US citizen and submit essay and resume. Two students from the workshop will be considered for the IRTS Summer Fellowship Program. Contact

Asian American Journalists Association Scholarship Awards
Scholarships from $250 to $2,000 will be awarded to undergraduates
pursuing careers in broadcast or print journalism. For information and applications write AAJA scholarship Awards

William B. Ruggles National Right to Work Scholarship
An annual unrestricted $2,000 scholarship is given to an
undergraduate or graduate student majoring in journalism who demonstrates an understanding of volunteerism and the problems of compulsory unionism. For further information and applications contact William B. Ruggles Scholarship

   Alpha Kappa Alpha Scholarships Awarded to students who have completed at least one full year of
higher education. Financial assistance awards range from $500 to $1,500 and merit awards are $1,000. Applications are accepted from December 1 to
January 31 of each year. The application deadline is February 15. To get the

Lowrider Magazine Scholarship Fund Offered to Hispanic college sophomores, juniors and seniors with at
least 3.0 GPA. Application consists of: sealed, official transcript, 2

Black Filmmaker Foundation
Founded in 1978, the Black Filmmaker Foundation supports emerging
African-American film/ video artists and builds audiences for their

California Association of Latinos in Broadcasting
Among its activities, the Association maintains a job bank or
candidates seeking positions in the broadcast field and offers limited
financial aid for college. Interested applicants should apply to: California

Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences: Nicholl Fellowships in
Screenwriting
The AMPS offers fellowships to all writers preparing for a career as
a screenwriter and has not yet been paid to write a screenplay or

Native American Journalists Association Scholarships
One $3,000 scholarship and two $1,000 will be awarded to Native
American students pursuing a degree in journalism or a related field.

Emma Bowen Foundation offers
students a five-year program in which they work for partner companies during summers and school breaks from the summer following their junior year in high school until they graduate from college.
